HATCH Reviews
HATCH 2023 McLaren Vale Vesey Shiraz | 97 Points
It is one of those things, that when you get good fruit and a good winemaker, good things happen. This is a good thing, a very good thing. It’s a blend of several McLaren Vale vineyards made with largely traditional techniques and using a mix of predominantly seasoned French oak but with an important contribution of American oak and a little new French. It’s beautifully soft and supple but there is a chalky acidity and fine tannin structure providing definition and direction. Love the complementary characters of red and black fruits with the seductive perfumes of blueberry.

HATCH 2023 Barossa Lyndoch Shiraz | 96 Points
Deep, opaque red-purple colour; the bouquet has terracotta/dry earth, dried herbs, very dark chocolate and inky concentrated blackberry and plum jam flavours. A massive wine with lashings of tannin that is energised by its acidity and kept on track by its tannins. A very big, dense, concentrated shiraz that begs to be cellared and then served with hearty protein.

The Real Review
HATCH 2024 Eden Valley Flaxman Valley Riesling | 95 Points
Pale with a flash of green and aromas of Bickford’s lime cordial, freshly squeezed lime and grapefruit with hints of Christmas lily, lime sorbet, crushed quartz, lemongrass, grapefruit zest and frangipani. Lightly textured, but it is really all about that tubular core of lime and the mineral propulsion system. Tension, precision and velocity writ large.

HATCH 2024 Clare Valley Watervale Riesling | 95 Points
A spicy, sleek, tightly wound Riesling of intensity, inward concentration, true lime and pink grapefruit characters, a touch of floral lift. Ther’s a lick of nutty savouriness underlying, too. So energetic, vigorous and frisky. It’s classic stuff, done well, and with stuffing in the wine. Yes thanks.

The name behind the label
After a long career at the helm of some of Australia’s favourite labels, I’m excited about making wines under my own label.
Having been called Hatch my whole career, it seemed only natural that would be the name on the label.
I’m enthusiastic about running my own business and being involved in every step of the journey to create these wines.
Together with my family, I’ve created fantastic wines that we enjoy drinking, and we think you will too.
